Meekoceras hanieli was named by Welter (1922). It is not extant. Its type locality is Nifoekoko, Niki Niki (Meekoceras beds), which is in a Smithian marine limestone/tuff in Indonesia.
It was recombined as Prionolobus hanieli by Spath (1934).
