Spiticeras (Negreliceras) stonyense was named by Imlay and Jones (1970). Its type specimen is USNM 158815 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic loc. 2286, Stony Creek, which is in a Berriasian marine sandstone in California.
