Taxonomy
Blanfordiceras californicum was named by Imlay and Jones (1970). Its type specimen is UCMP 10099 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic loc. M2253, Watson Creek, which is in a Tithonian marine sandstone in California.
