Taxonomy
Coniophis carinatus was named by Hecht (1959). Its type specimen is AMNH 3826 (incomplete mid-thoracic vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hyopsodus Hill, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Borealilysia carinata by Head (2020).
