Taxonomy
Tegula thea was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 2275, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2275, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Santa Margarita Formation of California.
