Taxonomy
Tegula varistriata was named by Nomland (1917). Its type specimen is UCMP 11316, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2268, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Santa Margarita Formation of California.
