Arthropterygius volgensis

Taxonomy
Ichthyosaurus volgensis was named by Kasansky (1903) [= 1910 Ophthalmosaurus sp.; Bogolubov: 472 [pars]. = 2000? Ophthalmosaurus sp.; Storrs, Arkhangel’skii & Efimov: 197 [pars]. = 2008 Undorosaurinae gen. indet.; Arkhangelsky: 253 [pars].]. Its type specimen is KSU 982/P-213 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mouth of the Berezoviy Dol Ravine near Novaya Racheika Village, which is in a Tithonian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Otschevia volgensis by Arkhangelsky (2000); it was considered a nomen dubium by McGowan and Motani (2003); it was recombined as Arthropterygius volgensis by Zverkov and Prilepskaya (2019).
