Taxonomy
Exilia simiensis was named by Bentson (1940). Its type specimen is UCMP 12139 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 3296, Devil Canyon, east of Simi Valley, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian marine siliciclastic in the Llajas Formation of California.
