Taxonomy
Calva (Microcalva) elderi was named by Saul and Popenoe (1992). Its type specimen is USNM 456073 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS loc. M8649, San Luis Reservoir, which is in a Coniacian marine horizon in the Panoche Formation of California.
