Taxonomy
Alectrion churchi was named by Hertlein (1928). Its type specimen is CAS 4149 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa Island, which is in a Miocene coastal horizon in the Vaqueros Formation of California.

It was recombined as Nassarius churchi by Loel and Corey (1932); it was recombined as Nassarius (Catilon) churchi by Addicott (1965).
