Taxonomy
Trachichthodes salebrosus was named by Stinton (1957). Its type specimen is NMV P 16960, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balcombe Bay, Langhian, which is in a Langhian marine marl in Australia.
