Myctophum degraciai was named by Schwarzhans and Aguilera (2013). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PPP 1652, which is in a Tortonian marginal marine sandstone in the Chagres Sandstone Formation of Panama.
It was recombined as Dasyscopelus degraciai by Lin and O’Dea (2025).
