Taxonomy
Dibranchus kakahoensis was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is CD949, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hampden Beach cliffs, which is in a Bortonian marine horizon in New Zealand.
