Taxonomy
Benthosema minutum was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is AU V484, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cliffden Section, which is in an Altonian marine sandstone in the Calamity Point Sandstone Formation of New Zealand.
