Taxonomy
Emmelichthys tennysoni was named by Schwarzhans (2019). Its type specimen is NMNZ S.47529, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Haugh's Quarry, which is in a Waitakian marine lime mudstone in the Otekaike Limestone Formation of New Zealand.
