Taxonomy
Pecten (Pecten) hartmanni was named by Hertlein (1925). Its type specimen is LSJU (no number), a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten (Janira) hartmanni by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Oppenheimopecten hartmanni by Moore (1984).

L. G. Hertlein 1925Right valve excessively arched, ornamented by about 16 or 17 rounded radiating ribs which become flattened toward the ventral margin of the shell ; anterior and posterior margins highly arcuate, smooth except for faint lines of growth ; ears somewhat convex and turned up slightly at the ends, the anterior sculptured by about four poorly defined radiating riblets which are crossed by concentric incremental lines, and cut by a slight byssal notch; left ear with a few faint radial riblets and slight concentric striae. Altitude 75 mm. ; longitude 65 mm. ; diameter of right valve approximately 30 mm. ; apical angle of right valve approximately 88°.
