Taxonomy
Pecten (Chlamys) hamlini was named by Arnold (1906). Its type specimen is USNM 164844, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Slacks Canyon, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in California.
It was recombined as Pecten (Pallium) hamlini by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Swiftopecten hamlini by Moore (1984).
