Taxonomy
Pecten (Chlamys) fucanus was named by Dall (1898).

It was recombined as Pecten (Vertipecten) nevadanus fucanus by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Pecten (Patinopecten) fucanus by Durham (1944); it was recombined as Vertipecten fucanus by Moore (1963), Moore (1984), Smith (1991).
