Taxonomy
Chonetes lepida was named by Hall (1857).

It was corrected as Chonetes lepidus by Schuchert (1897); it was recombined as Sinochonetes lepidus by Dutro (1981); it was recombined as Retichonetes (Sinochonetes) lepidus by Ivany et al. (2009); it was recombined as Klocinetes lepidus by Bizzarro (1995), He et al. (2019).
