Orthisina alberta was named by Walcott (1889). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 14s. Trilobite Bed, Mount Stephen, which is in a Delamaran deep-water shale in the Burgess Shale Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Nisusia alberta by Walcott (1905), Holmer et al. (2019).
