Prochirotherium triasicum was named by Biron and Dutuit (1981). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Ourika Valley tracksites (general), which is in a Carnian terrestrial sandstone in the Oukaïmeden Sandstone Formation of Morocco.
