Arca (Anadara) santaclarana was named by Loel and Corey (1932). Its type specimen is UCMP 31768 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Anadara (Cunearca) santaclarana by Reinhart (1943); it was recombined as Scapharca (Cunearca) santaclarana by Moore (1983).
