Amauropsis andersoni was named by Dickerson (1914) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10083]. Its type specimen is CAS 244 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Ampullina (Crommium) andersoni by Turner (1938); it was recombined as Crommium andersoni by Vokes (1939), Givens and Kennedy (1976), Marincovich (1977), Squires (1999).
