Nerita (Amphinerita) eos was named by Saul and Squires (1997). Its type specimen is LACMIP 7880, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 26600, Blanchard Flat, which is in a Hauterivian marine mudstone/sandstone in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.
