Taxonomy
Plectocion montis was named by Squires and Saul (2003). Its type specimen is LACMIP 12514, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 24081, Pentz Area, which is in a Campanian marine conglomerate in the Chico Formation of California.
