Taxonomy
Latiala heliaca was named by Saul (1998). Its type specimen is LACMIP 11378, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 28788, Big Tar Canyon, which is in a Cenomanian marine conglomerate in the Panoche Formation of California.
