Ammonites jurensis was named by Zieten (1833). It is not extant. It is the type species of Perilytoceras.
It was recombined as Lytoceras jurense by Wright (1883); it was recombined as Pachylytoceras jurense by Buckman (1892); it was recombined as Perilytoceras jurense by Rulleau (1997).
