Taxonomy
Tychonia fortis was named by Mazaev (2019). Its type specimen is PIN 5538/7-157, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Shakhtau open pit, sample 7, which is in an Asselian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Shakhtau Reef Formation of the Russian Federation.
