Aegoceras carpathicum was named by Callomon and Grădinaru (2005). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Department of Geology, University of Bucharest, RG0134. Its type locality is Munteana, Banat, which is in a Pliensbachian carbonate limestone in Romania.
