Taxonomy
Pycnosterinx heckelii was named by Pictet (1850). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sach el Aalma (Boissier collection), which is in a Santonian carbonate lime mudstone in Lebanon.
It was recombined as Acrogaster heckeli by Patterson (1964).
