Fernández et al. 2021Ichthyosaur differing from all other ophthalmo- saurids by the following combination of characters: nasal with a pronounced sharp ‘spur-like’ descending projection on dorsal border of external nares, almost contacting narial process of the maxilla; processus supranarialis of premaxilla extremely reduced or absent; processus subnarialis well-developed and forming ventral edge of anterior narial lobule; no premaxilla- lacrimal contact ventral to external nares; pronounced depression on dorsal surface of the nasals; reduced postorbital region; tooth crowns sharply pointed, with subtle longitudinal striations; humerus bearing four distal facets for articulation with a preradial accessory element, radius, ulna, and a post-axial extra element; hexagonal intermedium articulating distally with two distal carpals; tightly packed carpals, metacar- pals, and proximal phalanges.
