1, autogenous hypural number one;
2, hypural two fused with ural centrum one (these two characters are also found in several primitive euteleosteans and not in Erichalcis (Forey, 1975);
3, fusion of the median and lateral extrascapulars with the supraoccipital and parietal bones (indicated in part by the presence of a sensory canal in the supraoccip1tal, Patterson, 1970);
4, abdominal scutes present;
