Taxonomy
Leptotrachelus serpentinus was named by Hay (1903). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Hadjoula (Day collection, AMNH), which is in a Cenomanian carbonate limestone in Lebanon.
It was recombined as Benthesikyme serpentina by Alvarado-Ortega and Díaz-Cruz (2021).
