Leptotrachelus armatus was named by von der Marck (1863). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Dercetis armatus by Goody (1969); it was recombined as Benthesikyme armatus by Alvarado-Ortega and Díaz-Cruz (2021) and Chida et al. (2023).
