Eptalofosuchus viridi
Taxonomy
Eptalofosuchus viridi was named by Marinho et al. (2022). Its type specimen is MCT 1863-R, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Water well, gas station, BR-050 highway, southern Uberaba city, which is in a Campanian fluvial sandstone in the Uberaba Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Eptalofosuchus.

Marinho et al. 2022 | Small-sized “advanced notosuchian” with the following association of features (autapomorphies marked with an asterisk): dentary with ten tooth positions; symphyseal teeth increase discreetly in size posteriorly; *posterior tooth with large labial accessory cusp separated from main cusp by deep groove; high posterior symphyseal region (almost three times tall than below the level of third tooth), tapering anteriorly; well-marked ventral process on posteroventral symphyseal margin; *relative length and width of anterior (parallel sided) process of the dentary symphysis is elongated, being approximately twice as long as wide; *lateral surface of dentary mostly vertically oriented, continuous with the rest of its lateral surface below the alveolar margin, at mid to posterior region of tooth row; anterior edge of the mandibular fenestra more posteriorly placed than in Morrinhosuchus; large size of some neurovascular foramina placed on the mid to posterior region, parallel to alveolar edge of the dentary. |
