Taxonomy
Eoplethodus chaneti was named by Taverne (2000). Its type specimen is RGHP SA 3047, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Les Subis, which is in an Albian marine shale in France. It is the type species of Eoplethodus.
