Taxonomy
Clupea sardinoides was named by Pictet (1850). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hakel (Boissier collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.
It was recombined as Osmeroides sardinioides by Woodward (1901); it was recombined as Holcolepis sardinioides by Hay (1903); it was recombined as Ornategulum sardinioides by Forey et al. (2003).
