Taxonomy
Igonoia shastana was named by Squires (2011). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13684, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 28757, Thompson Creek, which is in a Turonian basinal (siliciclastic) horizon in the Yolo Formation of California.
