Taxonomy
Saxituberosa fons was named by Squires and Saul (2006). Its type specimen is LACMIP 13354, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 1588, Warm Springs Mountain, which is in a Danian transition zone/lower shoreface shale in the San Francisquito Formation of California.
