Taxonomy
Nerinea (Plesioptygmatis) tomasensis was named by Allison (1955). It is not extant. Its type specimen is UCMP 33614, a partial shell. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8313), which is in an Aptian reef, buildup or bioherm carbonate in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
