Taxonomy
Oligoptycha popenoei was named by Allison (1955). Its type specimen is UCMP 33710, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8331), which is in an Aptian shallow subtidal siltstone in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
