Drillia renaudi was named by Arnold (1903).

It was recombined as Turris (Drillia) renaudi by Moody (1916); it was recombined as Spirotropis (Typhlomangelia) renaudi by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Clathrodrillia renaudi by Clark (1931); it was recombined as Spirotropis renaudi by Bruff (1946); it was recombined as Rhodopetoma renaudi by Hendy (2021).
