Taxonomy
Lutites profundus was named by Korn and Hairapetian (2021). Its type specimen is MfN MB.C.30003, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baghuk Mountain E section (float), which is in a Changhsingian carbonate lime mudstone in the Hambast Formation of Iran.
