Taxonomy

Pleurotoma (Antiplanes) thalaea was named by Dall (1902). It is extant.

It was recombined as Antiplanes thalaea by Dall (1919); it was synonymized subjectively with Spirotropis (Antiplanes) perversa by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Antiplanes thalea by Hendy (2021).

Synonyms

Pleurotoma (Leucosyrinx) pedroana was named by Arnold (1903). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Deadman Island area - Lower San Pedro Series (1900s-1950s) [San Pedro Sand], which is in a Pleistocene coastal sandstone in the San Pedro Sand Formation of California.

It was recombined as Spirotropis (Antiplanes) perversa pedroana by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Antiplanes pedroana by Hoots (1931); it was synonymized subjectively with Antiplanes thalea by Hendy (2021).
Antiplanes rotula was named by Dall (1921). It is extant.

It was recombined as Crassispira rotula by Willett (1919); it was synonymized subjectively with Antiplanes thalea by Hendy (2021).
Pleurotoma (Spirotropis) smithi was named by Arnold (1903). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Spirotropis smithi by Buell (1911); it was recombined as Turris smithi by Arnold and Hannibal (1913); it was synonymized subjectively with Spirotropis (Antiplanes) perversa by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was replaced with Antiplanes rotula by Dall (1921), Hendy (2021).
