Fusus kobelti was named by Dall (1877). It is extant.

It was recombined as Fusinus kobelti by Grant, IV and Gale (1931) and Kern (1977); it was recombined as Harfordia kobelti by Valentine and Meade (1961); it was misspelled as Barbarofusus kobleti by Kanakoff and Emerson (1959); it was recombined as Barbarofusus kobelti by Hendy (2021).
