Fusus luteopictus was named by Dall (1877). It is extant.

It was recombined as Fusinus luteopictus by Willett (1937); it was recombined as Aptyxis luteopictus by Syder (2003); it was recombined as Hesperaptyxis luteopictus by Snyder and Vermeij (2016) and Hendy (2021).
