Leptelloidea septata was named by Cooper (1930).

It was recombined as Diambonia septata by Cooper and Kindle (1936); it was recombined as Leangella (Leangella) septata by Benedetto and Cocks (2009); it was recombined as Leangella septata by Sennikov et al. (2019).
