Taxonomy
Orthis emacerata was named by Hall (1860). Its type specimen is AMNH 37726 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Dalmanella emacerata by Foerste (1909); it was recombined as Eremotrema emacerata by Patzkowsky and Holland (1997); it was recombined as Heterorthina emacerata by Jin and Harper (2015).
