Ammonites nisus was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Aconeceras nisus by Renz (1982); it was recombined as Aconeceras (Aconeceras) nisus by El Qot (2018); it was recombined as Aconeceras nisum by Hyatt (1903), Bersac and Bert (2019).
