T. Ikeda et al. 2022As for type and only species: An Early Cretaceous member of the Varanoidea, cf. Monstersauria, from the Sasayama Group, Hyogo, Japan, differing from other fossil and extant monstersaurs by a combination of the following character states: shallow dentary not deepening significantly posteriorly with a rounded anteroventral rim; curved anterior portion end of dentary toward the mandibular symphysis without medial inflection of the anterior tooth positions; sinuous posteroventral dentary rim with large upper U-shaped and small lower V-shaped notches; posteroventral corner of intramandibular septum with weakly pointed eminence projecting posteriorly robust crescentic tooth-bearing border; unicuspid, trenchant, curved teeth with distinct blade-like carinae on mesial and distal sides of the crown, but without venom grooves and serrations; expanded tooth base forming a wide, labially opening U in the horizontal section with a few striations on the base.
